The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin, conceived by Rebecca Feldman with additional material by Jay Reiss. Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally quirky grown-ups.

Character: William Barfée
Play: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Director: Jeffrey Bracco
Production: Santa Clara University Mainstage
Run Dates: 3/1/19 – 3/9/19

William Morris Barfée is a bratty twelve-year-old with many health issues who writes words on the ground with his “magic foot” before spelling them aloud. He is onstage for almost the entire show.
